What Is Hydro Pressure Relief?

Hydraulic pressure relief is a critical component of any concrete or fiberglass inground swimming pool. With these pools, a hydro pressure relief check valve is installed in the bottom of the pool to allow the pool and groundwater surrounding it to equalize.

Somewhere beneath the soil of your home is groundwater. In areas with a high water table, the pressure from the groundwater rising through the ground can lift your pool from the bottom, causing it to break.

A hydro pressure relief check valve monitors the water table. Suppose it’s rising high enough to present a danger to your pool. In that case, the spring-loaded valve opens, allowing groundwater to enter the pool and equalize the pressure the groundwater is generating.
